The Otter's Back: Sea Otter Australia Returns to Mogo This October
Mark your calendars. Pack the spares. The biggest week on the Aussie MTB calendar just got locked in.
Sea Otter Australia is back at Mogo Trails and Batemans Bay from 21–25 October 2026 — and the crew at Rocky Trail are scaling everything up after an absolutely massive debut last year.
Year one was huge. Year two is going harder.
The 2025 inaugural Sea Otter Australia didn't just deliver — it rewrote the script for what an MTB festival on home soil can look like:
- 9,000+ punters through the gates over the weekend
- 170+ brands in the expo village showing the latest gear
- $5 million boost to the Eurobodalla visitor economy
- Net Promoter Score of 77 — riders absolutely loved it
That's not a festival. That's a pilgrimage. And in 2026 it's getting more racing, more demos, more global brand reveals, and more reasons to swag the South Coast in October.
What's on the menu
Sea Otter is a true multi-discipline weekend — there's a number plate for everyone, no matter what flavour of dirt you're into:
- Gravity racing on Mogo's stacked descents
- The Marathon — riders are calling the Sea Otter course one of the best endurance circuits in the country
- CX, junior categories, and e-Bike racing
- Bike demos from the world's leading brands — try-before-you-buy in the dirt, the way it should be
- Kids Zone, freestyle clinics, jump comps — the whole family gets sent
- Food trucks, cold drinks, live music in the festival hub
Why Mogo is the perfect host
If you haven't ridden Mogo Trails yet — fix that. The network sits in Mogo State Forest just inland from Batemans Bay, with flowy berms, proper gravity tracks, and that grippy red-orange dirt that just begs you to lean harder. Add coastal weather in October (sunny, dry, low 20s), the beach 10 minutes down the road, and a town built around bikes, and you've got the perfect five-day MTB holiday.
Don't show up under-gunned
Five days of laps means five days of cockpit abuse. Wet morning practice runs, dusty afternoon stages, the inevitable bin from your mate trying to clear the tabletop he definitely can't clear yet. If your grips are slipping, your pedals are crunching, or your stem's been on the bike since 2022 — sort it before you load the car.
We've got the affordable Aussie-shipped cockpit hardware to get your bike Mogo-ready without nuking your race entry budget.
