Willunga Washout: Red Hill DH Crew Hits the National Series

Winter racing in Australia is a gamble, and this weekend in Willunga, the house won. The Red Hill DH crew made the trek over to South Australia for Round 4 of the National Series, only to be met with a classic winter washout.

Willunga is legendary for its high-speed flow and technical rock gardens, but after the heavens opened up, the track turned into a literal river of red clay. In a tough call for officials, the finals were canned due to the extreme weather, meaning qualifying runs stood as the final results. Massive props to the three Red Hill Riders who pinned a number and navigated the chaos—it takes a certain kind of madness to charge into a blind rock garden in those conditions.

Schools Out, Shred's In

Back home in Victoria, the Mountain Bike Schools Series is currently in full swing. Round 2 at Lysterfield saw some blistering times despite the tacky winter dirt. It's great to see the groms out there learning how to carry momentum through the mud. Lysterfield is currently running prime for those who like their dirt with a bit of grip and a lot of loam.

Setup for the Muck

If you're heading out to hit the winter tacky trails this week, don't let your gear let you down. Racing in the wet is all about confidence in your contact points. If your bars are vibrating or your feet are sliding, you're not going to have a good time.
