Warburton Just Levelled Up: 70km of Trails, Shuttle Uplift & Two New Bangers You Need to Ride

Victoria's MTB scene just got a serious injection of stoke. Warburton Bike Park launched Phase 2 on 4 April 2026 — and the numbers speak for themselves: the trail network has blown past 70km of purpose-built singletrack, shuttle uplift is running daily from the Mt Tugwell summit, and two brand new trails are already being talked about in hushed, reverent tones across every trail head in the country.

If you haven't booked a trip to the Upper Yarra Valley yet, you're already behind.

650m of Vertical. Daily Shuttles. Zero Excuses.

The Phase 2 expansion doubles what was already a cracking network. From the summit of Mt Tugwell, you're looking at 650 metres of vertical descent — served up daily by the new shuttle uplift service so you can stop pedalling uphill and start sending it downhill, over and over again.

Shuttle passes are bookable directly via the Warburton Bike Park website. Demand is already running hot, so lock yours in before weekends sell out.

Shred Gallah (Advanced) — The One Everyone's Talking About

The trail name alone tells you what you're in for. Shred Gallah is built for riders who want raw gravity with character — a flowing combination of sculpted berms, chunky rocky outcrops, and technical rock gardens that reward commitment and punish hesitation. This is old-school gravity riding with modern trail building craft behind it. World Trail have absolutely cooked here.

Do not show up on a hardtail. Do not show up with soft tyres. Show up ready.

Mad Max (Intermediate/Advanced) — Fast, Progressive & Relentless

If Shred Gallah is the raw steak, Mad Max is the perfectly seasoned brisket. A long, progressive descent through bushland with jump lines, fast-rolling berms, and sections that reward momentum over brute force. This is the trail you'll ride five times in a day and still be smiling at the bottom.

It's the crowd favourite for a reason.

Why Warburton Matters for Australian MTB

Australia has always punched above its weight in gravity riding talent, but premium trail infrastructure has lagged behind the Northern Hemisphere. Warburton is changing that. Purpose-built trails, shuttle access, and a network with genuine variety from beginner flow trails to gnarly advanced lines — this is what a world-class bike park looks like.

Yarra Ranges Mayor Cr Richard Higgins put it well: "World Trail have crafted some truly exceptional riding experiences, and this next release really shows what Warburton Bike Park can deliver."

The surrounding Warburton township is equally dialled — good coffee, good food, and accommodation that doesn't require sleeping in your van (though we respect that too).

What to Pack

You're going to be sending 650m of descent multiple times a day. Your cockpit needs to be locked in before you hit that shuttle. Loose stems, worn grips, and sketchy pedals are not the vibe at Shred Gallah.

  • Tight, properly torqued stem — check before every session
  • Lock-on grips that don't rotate when you're wrestling the bars
  • Flat pedals with pins that actually grip your shoe through rocky chunder
  • Brake pads that aren't glazed from 10 runs of 650m of braking

We stock everything your rig needs for a trip like this. Browse the full MTB hardware range at Chunky Monke — free shipping Australia wide.
