Leogang World Cup 2026: The DH Elite Face the Motorway

The mountain bike world is descending on the Austrian Alps this week. Leogang is legendary, it's brutal, and for 2026, it's looking faster than ever.

As the UCI World Cup circus rolls into Saalfelden Leogang, all eyes are on the "Motorway"that infamous, high-speed lower section of the track where races are won or lost by tenths of a second. After the wet conditions we saw in the early rounds, the dust is finally kicking up in Austria, and the riders are absolutely pinning it.

What to watch for

The Australian contingent is out in force this weekend. Keep an eye on the timing chips for:

  • Troy Brosnan: The most consistent man in DH. Buller was just a warm-up; Brosnan is hunting a podium in the big mountains.
  • Zoe Cuthbert: After a strong showing in the XCO rounds, shes looking to translate that fitness into a top-10 result in the techy Leogang woods.
  • The Track: The new 2026 layout includes a fresh technical section through the trees thats already claiming wheels in practice. Its a high-stakes game of line choice.

Why Leogang is Different

Unlike some of the newer flow-trails on the circuit, Leogang demands absolute precision. One missed line on the roots or a botched landing on the big jumps, and your weekend is done. Its the ultimate test of both mental focus and bike setup.

Dial Your Rig for Speed

You might not be hitting the Motorway at 60km/h this weekend, but having a cockpit that gives you confidence is non-negotiable for any trail ride. If your current bars feel narrow or your grips are slipping, its time to upgrade before your next shuttle day.
