Australian Trail Report: Hardline Gnar, National Champs, and the Season's Final Roost

What a season it’s been for Australian mountain biking. From the jagged rocks of Mt Buller to the vertical drops of Maydena, the 2025/26 season pushed every limit. As the alpine air turns crisp and the chairlifts take their well-earned rest, we’re looking back at the moments that defined the year—and where you can still find the flow.

1. Maydena: Hardline Returns to Tassie

The gnarliest event in downhill—Red Bull Hardline—transformed Maydena Bike Park into a world-class theater of the absurd this February. If you missed the live action, the track was faster and more technical than ever. Seeing local legends go bar-to-bar with the world's best on home soil was the ultimate adrenaline shot for the Tassie scene.

2. Mt Buller: National Champs Wrap-Up

The AusCycling MTB National Championships at Mt Buller were a test of endurance and nerve. The track was blown out, fast, and sketchy by the time the final race runs came around. Huge props to everyone who left it all on the mountain. Note: Buller has officially closed its lifts for the season as of three days ago—it’s time to start prepping those winter rigs!

3. Blue Derby: Year-Round Flow

While the high-country parks are cooling down, Blue Derby remains the heart of Australian trail riding. Whether you’re chasing the dream on 'Air Ya Garn' or keeping it technical on 'Trouty', Derby is still delivering the goods. If you’re heading there for a late-season trip, make sure your brake pads are fresh—those Tassie descents don't forgive worn-out gear.

4. Looking Ahead: The "Maintenance Season"

As some parks close, the "Maintenance Season" begins. It’s the perfect time to check your CNC pedals for any rock-strike damage and swap out those glazed brake pads. We’ve got the kits you need to ensure your bike is ready for the local winter loops.

Keep shredding, and stay tuned for more Trail Talk!
